In 2017, three unique sites across England will be brought to life with extraordinary vocal music in a new piece by artist, composer and choir leader Verity Standen. Richmond Castle – a Norman fortress that was used in the First World War as a prison for Conscientious Objectors – is the first of these sites. Over the weekend of 9th-11th April, audiences will be invited to explore the Castle as never before, as voices resonate around the site.
Verity Standen and producers Situations are looking for local male singers to take part in this amazing event as performers. Perhaps you sing in a local choir, and fancy a new challenge? Perhaps you have never sung in public, but would love to try? No experience is necessary – Verity is running workshops for anyone who would like to come and find out more.
Taster workshops: Tuesday 7th March & Friday 17th March (6-7.30pm) - come along to one of these sessions, sing with Verity and find out more about the project. Please let us know you’re planning on coming so we can judge numbers.
Advance rehearsal weekend: 18th & 19th March - this weekend is essential for learning the music.
Final rehearsals and performance: 1st-6th April (weekend daytimes and weekday evenings) Performances: 7th-9th April
