Mmm Hmmm

Mmm Hmmm was a playful piece of song theatre, performed by a trio of skilled singers, that toured across the UK between 2014-2016. The show appeared in festival tents, remote village halls in the Outer Hebrides, and the National Theatre’s Riverstage, as well as theatre venues up and down the country including Battersea Arts Centre, Tobacco Factory Theatres Bristol, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, The Point Eastleigh, Chapel Arts Centre Cardiff and Shoreditch Town Hall.

Using intricate vocal techniques and rich harmony, Mmm Hmmm held a magnifying glass up to snapshots of everyday life. One moment a fragile apology, the next a perilous trip to the Great Western Railway buffet car…Verity’s original a cappella songs evoked the awkward, heartrending and hilarious moments that characterise what it means to be human.

★★★★ WhatsOnStage:
‘A paean to the wonders of the human voice’

★★★★ Broadway Baby:
‘Mmm Hmmm blends a cappella music, theatre and movement to create something brand new and utterly thrilling.’
