HUG

‘Song erupts around you… it’s startling, moving and genuinely immersive.’

- Guardian

Each audience member is blindfolded. They are then individually hugged by a singer.
Unable to visually gauge their surroundings, participants experience the performance through sound, breath and vibrations of the body as the choir of voices deliver the song.

Winner - Off West End TBC Award 2016.
Shortlisted - The Arches Brick Award and Total Theatre Awards 2015.

For each presentation of HUG, Verity forms a new bespoke choir. She has re-made the show with singers in Poland, Belgium, China and the Czech Republic, as well as around the UK with partners such as The Southbank Centre, Derelict, Giving Voice Festival and Forest Fringe.

★★★★★ “To feel somebody’s thorax vibrate as they tackle an elaborate countermelody feels like the most immediate, visceral experience of music as human expression possible… like an antenna to heaven.”

- TimeOut

★★★★ “There’s more to it than just sensation. HUG is also a strangely cathartic experience, unequivocally illustrating the power than music holds to move us.”

- Exeunt
